Having found the camera I thought I would send some pics of what the filming folk have done to the post office... The old post office was once white - a dignified building in the centre of the "old" town.
For filming it has been reincarnated as a hotel and restaurant complete with wooden viking out the front. Typical of most film sets - it's just a front....
They didn't bother to paint the sides... still I kinda like the new colour - twould be interesting to know what my siblings down under think. To them the post office was always the post office and always white and pristine...
The film crew and actors are staying at the red house and the guest house next door.... maybe you guys should have left a cd... never know you might have had your music as a part of the film!
Other than that life is getting back to semi normal. Disa and kristjan are here. Aunt Guja (88 years of age) is doing the horse treck across kjöl - a 6 day ride.... She truly always does something to amaze the rest of us.

She's 88 and riding a horse cross-country? She needs to come to Texas and do the across the state ride to Houston for the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo. It takes about a month.
Wow, the post office looks weird.. it's not really the same building with the red front on it. Red is quite a welcoming and warm colour though. It's nice!
Well its day 3 50k ride and she rightly decided to take the truck (support vehicle), but still she will finish - through sheer determination. and as for the post office - it is a tad strange to see it this colour - but I kinda like it.

Dave, if only I knew... They put a sculpture (wooden) out the front - probably to remind folk (watching the film) that this is Iceland.

Did you recognize any landmarks in that movie trailer?
Good to see the building is being used for something. Mum did the right thing not to appear in the movie. After seeing the trailer, I think it is not a project she would have been happy to be associated with. I prefer to see her in the video you filmed of us in 2007.
The trailer was made before filming began up here. Twill be interesting to see how the town looks in the thing. However, we are all in agreement that if we see the film it would be best on dvd where we can fast forward and turn the sound off!
